I first got involved at Creative Dance Center in 2020 when I was invited to choreograph on Kaleidoscope Dance Company. I had a wonderful experience teaching kids who loved to dance and were not afraid to ask questions and had quite a deep understanding of the choreographic process for their age. The shutdown happened. When I got asked to return in 2021, I witnessed the tenacity of these young dancers and it has inspired me.
I was lucky enough to be asked to choreograph two more times. I got trained in Brain Compatible Dance Education and asked to be a Board member, then teacher. I have learned so much from the other teachers in this community and most of all from the students themselves. The unique approach that Creative Dance Center instills visibly sparks joy in so many young dancers and gives them so much confidence in their abilities and respect for one another above competition.
