Kim's Healing Center Fundraiser

A life like this was not in the cards for me.

A strong marriage, two happy kids in college... these are the things l dreamt of as a young person but were seemingly out of reach.  

My family was rocked by my mother's suicide when I was five years old.  My two younger siblings and I were devastated along with my father.  He did the best he could but we all really needed additional support to move through our intense and collective grief. 

The support I needed eventually came to me when I was a young adult and a mentor reached out to provide guidance and advice.  Without that care and someone to shine a light on the path for me, I am certain my story would have played out differently. 

This is why I have been volunteering and fundraising for the Healing Center for the past 15 years.  The services this place provides are one of a kind – a safe and accepting place for kids and adults to process grief and find connection and understanding.  I can only imagine the ways that the services the Healing Center provides would have helped my family if they had been available for us back then.

For 25 years, The Healing Center has provided some of Washington state's most comprehensive, free grief support - serving everyone from toddlers and teens, to grieving spouses and partners, seniors, survivors of suicide and more.  

In the Center's unique groups, people connect with peers experiencing similar loss and together build a community where pain and isolation are transformed into compassion and meaning. No one is turned away due to an inability to pay, and there’s no limit to how many meetings clients can attend. 

Thanks to donors like you, the Center help hundreds of families a year navigate the darkest times of their lives. Your generous gifts are used to hire therapists, reach and educate communities, and run our lifesaving programs.
