Polynesian Opportunity With Every Resource (POWER) program is planned to begin in early Summer, it's a program geared to Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander youth and adults with special emphasis on Tongan community to equip and train in various construction trades.
We have come to realize that our Tongan demographics are mainly employed as laborers or caregivers. American education is not for everyone and we as a collective agree that academia is not the only way to pursue a suitable future.
Rather to address the negative impacts Covid-19 and systematic racism of the American educational system, we aim to reset the mindset and repurpose our failed youth and young adults to remember their value which in turn will motivate their positive contribution to our local economy.
POWER will provide high-quality, pre-apprenticeship training programs that help individuals obtain careers in construction trades. We will partner with many registered apprenticeship programs in the Seattle area and expose students directly to their training facilities. These training partners explain their industry, teach technical and math-related lessons, and emphasize the importance of fitness.
