PHASE2

The next phase is an electrical system upgrade—an essential step that prepares the site for key changes in the remaining phases. Currently, the electrical system has two major issues: power is not operational on the entire back wall of the building, and the existing electrical setup is not balanced to support the usage required by a community center, which often involves multiple crock pots, warming trays, and roaster ovens running simultaneously. We envision a day when we and our guests can host functions without needing numerous extension cords from and to outbuildings. An even bigger dream is the addition of a commercial kitchen, which you can read about in the 'What Happens in Future Phases' section below.

This project presents a wonderful opportunity to restore a unique historical space in Kitsap County. The Board of the Crosby Community Center is dedicated to balancing history with cost, energy efficiency, maintenance, and functionality.

If you live in Washington State or simply care about preserving historical spaces and supporting communities, we invite you to consider donating to our project. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference!

WHAT HAPPENS IN FUTURE PHASES?

The remaining phases will create additional space and storage (because who doesn't need more storage?), complete interior and exterior finish work, and upgrade entry steps and ramps.

USABILITY

To add space, we plan to remove the rear wall and add a closet, stage, and kitchen.

Currently, WA State law limits businesses without a commercial kitchen to a maximum of four food-permitted events a year. This means the community center cannot even make popcorn for a movie night without using one of the four food permits. The addition of a commercial kitchen will allow us to hold unlimited events!

On the building's rear exterior, the space under the stage, closet, and kitchen will be converted into exterior closets to store items like cornhole boards, grills, Crosby Days Logging Festival competition equipment, and more.

Inside, the building addition will free up interior floor space and restore most of the hall's interior to its historical original state.

Note: The building addition will be on the rear of the building, respecting the original architecture of the front and sides.

SAFETY & OPERATION

The front steps will be repaired, and the rear entry steps and ramp will be rebuilt to be ADA-compliant. The electrical system will also be upgraded.

HISTORY

Interior and exterior woodwork, shingles, walls, etc., will be repaired. Materials and aesthetics will respect the original building architecture, using modern materials where practical to minimize maintenance costs and frequency.
