For the past eight years, I’ve served on the board of directors for the Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness. This organization is at the forefront of reducing homelessness and housing instability in our region. The Coalition is more than an advocacy organization – they are advocates, educators, providers, and conveners. The Coalition unites the housing, shelter, and service providers in Seattle and King County through trainings, civic engagement, monthly meetings, and supporting students experiencing homelessness. Their work is our shared work, the community- powered effort to reduce homelessness at the policy level. The Coalition keeps people aware of what’s going on and educates our community on how to be better advocates for themselves and the people they care about.

I'd like to invite everyone who donates to the Coalition via my Giving Page to join me for one of my favorite activities: walking the beach during a negative tide. Sure, you could do that on your own, but isn't it better to be with other people who care about the same things as you? That's what solidarity is all about- building community with each other, finding joy and hope in shared experiences, building trust in one another, and taking action to make our world a better place. During our low-tide walk, I'll have equipment for beach cleanup, tips for identifying invasive species, tools for looking at sea life up close, and tidal guides.

Dates to choose from:

Sunday, June 8th from 8:30am-10:30am

Sunday, June 22nd from 7:30am-9:30am

Thank you for your support of the critical work the Coalition does.  - Jenn
