We Made It!

Update posted 5 months ago

Hello Friends!

Thanks to each one of you, we were able to take the largest cohort of students we've ever brought to Blues Camp this year!

We just got back yesterday after a jam-packed week of workshops, concerts, meals, conversations, and of course, jam sessions at the Pt. Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival.

After we are able to catch up on our rest we will send out a full report to let you know about so many of the things we learned and the people we got to meet.

Until then, we just wanted to say a quick "Thank you!" and let you know that your support is tremendously appreciated.

If you are in the Seattle area, mark your calendar for First Thursdays in both September & October, when we'll be hosting Block Parties in front of King Street Station! First up is September 5th, 6pm - 8pm, can't wait to see you there!

With gratitude,

The Rhapsody Project crew

"Sunpie" Barnes transmits Creole and blues music to Ari Whidbey at Blues Camp

Since 2017, our organizations has been bringing youth from South King County to the Pt. Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival. Our students now refer to this experience simply as "Blues Camp."

We prioritize serving Black American families with this program, and the mentorship and experiences that take place have helped with the professional development of our staff, as well as the long-term engagement of our students (some of whom are now paid interns in our organization).

Our partnership with The Centrum Foundation has already allowed us to secure eight scholarship slots for young people, this campaign will allow us to bring 4 more students and also pay two chaperones and one staff member to help ensure that all of our young people (typically aged 16 - 24 for this program) have an enriching experience.

Please give today to help us grow our cohort of dedicated musicians who are rooted in their American musical heritage, and bring more young people to Blues Camp!

Feel free to reach out to Joe Seamons with questions about this program, or ideas for other ways to support it:
