Building community and paying artists at TSGP

Three goals:

1. Make theatre telling stories by and about women, nonbinary and transgender folks

2. Help grow careers for theatre artists who are still underrepresented in the industry (including paying them.)

3. Build a community of people who love theatre and unique stories.

I love the picture at the top of this page. These ten women and nonbinary playwrights and directors, plus our two mentors and our stage manager, are the theatre people who made the 2023-2024 Incubator/Mentor Program a reality. Not just the four plays that were written and produced, but the community they built for each other and the things they learned and taught each other. (thank you to Jordan, Aidyn, Lisa, Rachel, Annie in the top row, and Divya, Adrian, Marlee, Christie and Jasmine in the bottom row! Plus me, of course!) 

What's it about?

I founded The Shattered Glass Project five years ago, with a goal to create experiences that would lead to better stronger careers for these underrepresented theater artists - people like myself who needed opportunities in order to flourish and grow. We’ve had a great five years! We have worked with three different cohorts of our signature Incubator/Mentor Program. We’ve produced four main stage shows both on stage and on Zoom. We have provided script development workshops for over 20 new scripts, working with playwrights to craft better and stronger pieces of theater. 

Why you?

These great things we’ve accomplished couldn’t have happened without being part of a generous community - the collaboration and creativity of the artists, the hard work of our board of directors, and the financial and emotional support of our audience members.
