I love this photo - it's from the production I directed last fall of a new play called A Lonely Realization which was written by Darby Sherwood and Emily Stone, and performed by them along with Lexi Warden. I'm there in the lower left corner of the shot (taken by Kirk Hostetter, photographer extraordinaire), talking with sound designer and board member Alison Kozar in the center and stage manager Claire Kaminski on the right. We had just finished a final dress rehearsal and were discussing something deeply important - no memory of what, but I'm sure it was going to make our storytelling better and stronger.

I have three personal goals for my work at The Shattered Glass Project:

1. To make theatre telling stories by and about women, nonbinary and transgender folks.

2. To help grow careers for theatre artists who are still underrepresented in the industry (including paying them.)

and

3. to build a community of people who believe that making theatre is an act of resistance and a tool for building empathy and understanding in our divided world.

What's it about?

I founded The Shattered Glass Project in 2019 with a goal to create experiences that would lead to better stronger careers for these underrepresented theater artists - people like myself who needed opportunities in order to flourish and grow. We’ve had a great five+ years! We have worked with three different cohorts of our signature Incubator/Mentor Program. We’ve produced four main stage shows both on stage and on Zoom. We have provided script development workshops for over 20 new scripts, working with playwrights to craft better and stronger pieces of theater.  We look forward to the Fall Plays in Progress series and a new version of the Incubator/Mentor Program with professional knowledge programming for a broader group of theatre makers.

Why you?

These great things we’ve accomplished couldn’t have happened without being part of a generous community - the collaboration and creativity of the artists, the hard work of our board of directors, and the financial and emotional support of our audience members.

You are invited to be part of this community - buy tickets, volunteer, and donate to The Shattered Glass Project!

Your help matters in many ways, so here some other things you can do for me (besides making a financial gift!) as I work to build community for TSGP:

  • Bring someone to one of our shows: invite any of your friends and family you think share our vision for building community and telling stories from unique perspectives. Your help matters.
  • Follow us on social media. Share a post. (P.S. Most of us are GenX - an Instagram account was a stretch!)
    https://www.facebook.com/theshatteredglassproject or
    https://www.instagram.com/theshatteredglassproject/
  • Sign up for our newsletter and ask a friend to sign up, so that more people are aware of us. https://www.shatteredglassproject.org/contact-us
  • Create your own peer to peer page at https://www.wagives.org/organization/Shatteredglassproject

Thank you for your continued support, both for me and all the artists making theater at The Shattered Glass Project. Email me at rebecca@shatteredglassproject.org if you have any questions! I’m always happy to talk.
