Mission

WithinReach serves as a key connector and advocate for families in Washington, particularly those currently and historically affected by disparities. We partner with communities to co-design and connect families to equitable system supports and advocate to ensure essential resources are available and accessible to young children and their caregivers.

Description

WithinReach believes all families deserve to be healthy. For more than 30 years, we have worked to break down the barriers to health for families in our state. WithinReach works in two important ways: the first is through direct service work with individuals and families. WithinReach helps thousands of people gain access to essential health resources and community supports that are close to home. Whether it’s via online support, or over the phone, in multiple languages, WithinReach is here to help. We help families with everything from childhood development milestone screening, to application assistance for health insurance and food benefit programs, to help finding a food bank, parenting class or low-cost medical clinic. WithinReach strives to reach people where they are at in their lives, serving people in all 39 counties in the state.   

The second way we create impact is working with partners, providers and policymakers to coordinate and improve health and social service systems so that they work for all Washington families. We know we achieve better and longer-lasting impact when we work together to break down barriers that prevent people from living healthy lives. WithinReach is active in advocacy and immunization work, and leads a coalition of community-based organizations and state agencies to share information about Medicaid, outreach strategies and health care reform so that more people in Washington have equitable access to health care. 

Donor support keeps WithinReach here for those whose lives have been upended. With pandemic relief measures that provided much-needed food assistance and medical care expiring, we are already seeing the need for assistance rising sharply.
