Mission

Wilderness Awareness School's mission is to help children and adults cultivate healthy relationships with nature, community and self, and grow into the next generation of compassionate leaders, mentors and stewards.

Description

We believe a vibrant connection with nature is essential to balance our high-tech lives and foster health and well-being. We mentor and train children and adults through transformational Nature Connection programs, locally (summer camps, year-round programs ages 4-adult, workshops, expeditions) and worldwide (Kamana Naturalist Training Program, online communities, eCourses). Entertainment media dominates our children's lives, coinciding with steep increases in obesity, depression and ADHD. Studies show that being outside helps kids grow lean, increases creativity and attention, and improves academics.
