Mission

Vashon Events is a 501c3 nonprofit organization on Vashon Island, Washington. Our mission is create, provide, and expand positive life experiences through music and art for all.

Description

Vashon Events is the heartbeat of Vashon Island’s arts and culture scene. Since 2013, we've been dedicated to connecting our community through music, art, and shared experiences. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide a centralized hub for event information, create opportunities that unite the community, and deliver programming that uplifts local musicians and artists.

It all started with a vision to make event information accessible. We launched a website and weekly newsletter that have become go-to resources for Islanders. Collaborating with local organizations, we’ve helped coordinate events and leverage resources to make Vashon’s cultural offerings even richer. From curating music for the Strawberry Festival and Concerts in the Park to supporting the Farmer’s Market, our early efforts laid the groundwork for a vibrant, thriving community.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our programs to make an even greater impact. In 2015, we introduced the Musical Instrument Library—a one-of-a-kind resource where Islanders can borrow instruments for free. We created a Music Teacher Directory to support instructors and foster new generations of musicians. Our youth mentorship program provides young performers the chance to open for headlining bands, giving them invaluable experience and confidence. We also promote the First Friday Gallery Cruise, ensuring the community knows where to celebrate local art and artists.
