Mission

We identify and respond to the needs of those who either are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We encourage movement toward independence in those we help, and refer to professionals in other organizations when appropriate.

Description

Vashon's Interfaith Council to Prevent Homelessness is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of representatives from faith groups and others on the island. All of our support comes from donations from people who care.  We are helping to provide housing for our Vashon community’'s homeless & near homeless. We provide assistance with food, rent, utilities, gas and other short term needs. Many of the people who are in this situation have suffered job loss, illness, or difficult family issues. The majority of people assisted by IFCH only need help once. We also work with other local non-profit agencies and organizations to assist those who are homeless or about to become homeless.

In the first three months of 2024 our meals program averaged 490 meals per month. Rent assistance continues to be our greatest expense, Averaging more than $6500 per month.
