Tilth Alliance

Who We Are

Tilth Alliance works in community with Washington farmers, gardeners and community members to build a sustainable, healthy and equitable food future. We promote organic and sustainable practices using farms, gardens and kitchens as classrooms where people from all backgrounds can learn to grow and prepare food. 

Through education, advocacy, and direct support we work to empower local gardeners, farmers, and community members with the resources they need to grow food in ways that nourish our neighbors and protect our environment.

In 2024 our team,  

• Distributed 19,545 Good Food Bags of organic produce through partnerships with Seattle Public Preschools, senior centers, other community organizations, and our Farm Stand at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands to increase access to healthy, organic, and locally grown food.
• Shared 20,165 culturally relevant plant starts with local community groups, food banks, and housing sites to expand access to traditional produce not commonly available in our region. 
• Engaged 3,054 children in our youth programs, centered on growing food and caring for the environment. 
• Awarded $550,196 in grant funding to 67 small farms through the Washington State Organic & Sustainable Farming Fund to support farmers in adopting organic, regenerative, and sustainable farming practices.  
• Provided education to 903 participants through our adult education classes and workshops on organic gardening, food preservation, permaculture, and more. 
• Purchased $192,689.66 of organic produce from 77 WA farms, for our Good Food Bags, Farm Stand and Community Kitchen program, centering immigrant, refugee, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women-owned farms.
