The Whale Museum's mission is to promote stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research.

Description

With programs operating out of Friday Harbor and Seattle, The Whale Museum is on the front lines of marine science and education across the Pacific Northwest.

Every contribution helps us maintain and grow our unique exhibit hall in Friday Harbor, respond to stranded or entangled marine mammals, educate boaters and the public, and advocate for the ecosystems of the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and the rest of the Salish Sea.

By donating today, you are helping support:

• Our Soundwatch Boater Education program, operating out of Friday Harbor and Seattle to protect Southern Resident killer whales from vessel disturbance.
• Our Marine Mammal Stranding Network, responding to reports of stranded or entangled marine mammals throughout San Juan County. 
• Our unique education department, hosting expert scientists, offering hands-on workshops, and physically and virtually hosting classrooms from across the state. 
• And a whole lot more! The Whale Museum hosts local events, maintains a Sightings Network, is a key partner in Be Whale Wise, monitors and maintains a hydrophone and livestream camera at Lime Kiln Point State Park—whether it’s in our building, on the docks, or on the water, we’re working every day to educate, research, and protect.
