Who is the Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.?
Since 1918, The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. has empowered people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities. Thanks to generous community support, Lighthouse employees have access to a wide range of career opportunities and comprehensive training programs allowing them to excel in their personal and professional lives.
We are working to lower the 70% unemployment rate of people who are blind and the 80% unemployment rate for those who are DeafBlind in communities across the nation.
The Lighthouse works with each employee to make sure they are provided with the necessary supports for success, providing over 5,500 hours of training and support to over 280 individuals who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities.
What do we make at the Lighthouse?
Lighthouse employees make aerospace parts, office products, and a myriad of other machined products for customers such as The Boeing Company and the Federal Government. We also provide managed services like appointment setting, quality assurance, account reconciliation, contract close out, and other administrative services for customers like the U.S. Navy and the Defense Contract Management Agency.

•On a Boeing plane, over 7,000 parts are made at the Lighthouse by employees who are blind or DeafBlind with an 99.9% acceptance rate for all manufactured parts.

•We have 20+ guide dogs who come to work with their handlers at the Lighthouse.
