The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s has been turning hunger into hope for the most vulnerable in our community for over 80 years.
We serve an ethnically diverse population in the Jackson Place neighborhood, located between Seattle’s International and Central districts. Our guests help us understand and provide the healthy, culturally-relevant foods they prefer.
Some who visit The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s are unhoused and willing to wait in line for a No Cook Bag because it might be the only real food they have for days. Others unable to stand in line for health reasons rely on our weekly Home Delivery program. Some who can wait in line, often in the rain, for the Walk-In program we offer three days a week do so to supplement their grocery needs when little is left in the budget after paying rent, utilities, and other necessary expenses.
An estimated 30% of households statewide seek hunger relief and 59% of those have children; meaning that one in seven kids face hunger daily. With one in ten people not knowing where their next meal will come from, having access to food banks is critical.
We have been able to meet this growing need through your compassion, generosity, and belief in our mission to provide nutritious food to our community with respect and hospitality.
We appreciate your support during GiveBIG, Giving Tuesday – and the rest of the year, too.
