Mission
The Seattle Latino Film Festival (SLFF) embraces the mission to bring audiences and filmmakers together for an educational experience and to support the magic of filmmaking as part of Hispanic culture globally.
Description
The Seattle Latino Film Festival (SLFF), now in its 17th year, remains dedicated to bringing artistic and culturally relevant cinematography to the forefront. Our previous festivals have showcased films produced in Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, the United States, Israel, Uruguay, El Salvador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
The Seattle Latino Film Festival is considered one of the most significant cultural events celebrating the rich diversity of Latino cinema in the United States during Hispanic Heritage Month. SLFF is the only festival of its kind in the Northwest. It typically features a wide array of films from Romance-language countries and the United States, highlighting the talents of filmmakers, actors, and storytellers. The festival provides a platform for these films to reach broader audiences and fosters cultural exchange and understanding through the art of cinema. It offers a unique opportunity for both filmmakers and audiences to engage with stories that reflect the experiences, traditions, and perspectives of Latino cultures. SLFF attracts a politically aware and diverse demographic. Since its inaugural festival in 2009, we have drawn over 1,000 attendees each year.
The festival has established partnerships with organizations and corporations such as the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, ArtsFund, 4Culture, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Lakeside School, the Washington State Arts Commission, Humanities Washington, Google, Seattle University, the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington, Northwest Film Forum, Heritage Bank, KING 5 News, Delta Air Lines & Aeroméxico, Microsoft, Bellevue Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, Aula Cervantes, Honorary Consul of Spain in Seattle, amount others.
