Mission
Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange (SPACE) connects and enriches our community through art, music, and culture. Our vision is a robust, diverse and thriving arts and culture community in Magnuson Park, extending into NE Seattle and beyond.
Description
The Magnuson Park Gallery is a production of SPACE and it curates and presents exhibits from emerging and established local artists and outside collections, hosting events such as artist talks and show receptions throughout the year. Our goal is to provide a public and accessible forum for visual arts. Highlights include our annual Plein Air gallery exhibit and the Paint Out, which brings a large contingent of artist to the beauty of Magnuson Park. SPACE also co-hosts the Building 30 Open Studios twice a year, inviting the public to view artists' studios and see their work.
In addition, SPACE operates SPACE 101.1 FM, a low power FM radio station. SPACE 101.1 broadcasts in NE Seattle with a mix of musical styles and local interview shows. As a non-commercial community radio station, we offer more than 20 locally produced programs covering a wide range of genres, from surf to soul, ambient to americana, obscure indie-pop, new wave, punk, blues, world music, soundtracks, interviews, local history, and much more. When not airing fantastic locally produced programs, we present the SPACE MIX—a tailored blend of the best new music, vintage alternative rock, classic R&B, local music, and unexpected delights. In addition, SPACE 101.1 hosts Magnuson Park Live! – is a showcase for live music in Magnuson Park. Each show is recorded in front of a studio audience and shared over the airwaves, our website, and on our YouTube channel.
