Ryther

A nonprofit organization

Mission

Each year Ryther reaches 2,500 young people and their families in Western Washington who struggle with mental illness, trauma, substance use, houselessness, and neurodiverse traits, through an array of exceptional therapeutic services.

We envision a community where all youth have hope, resilience, and a chance to heal so they may look forward to the future. ght year old Lila and her family learned to manage her disruptive behavior right before her baby brother joined the family.  Read more about Read more about Lila's story featured in the Seattle Times:

Early Intervention Can Save Lives:  Timely intervention in mental health concerns is paramount. Early detection and treatment not only save lives but also set children on a trajectory towards a brighter future.

By supporting Ryther, you ensure young people in our community have the mental health care they need when they need it most.

  1. Over half (58%) of Washington adolescents experience anxiety and/or depression.
  2. 114,000 of 633,000 (~20%) of Washington adolescents need clinical care for anxiety and depression.
  3. About 9% said they had attempted suicide. Yet most are not getting treatment.

The average delay between symptom onset of a mental health condition and treatment is 11 years.  That means if someone begins experiencing major depression at 14, they are unlikely to receive help until age 25. For a young person, that means suffering for almost half of your entire life before getting the help you need. For many, that means the possibility of treatment comes far too late.

What Makes Ryther Different

Ryther takes the more challenging approach by embedding ourselves in the community other providers don't go. We are under bridges, in schools, and in homes. We envision a society where youth can receive exceptional mental health care when needed.

How You Can Help

By supporting Ryther during GiveBIG this year, you are helping us tackle some of the critical causes of mental illness, addiction, and houselessness to ensure that youth in our community will have the care they need - no matter a family's ability to pay.

As part of the Ryther community, you are helping young people rise with resilience, hope, and a chance to heal so they may look forward to the future.

Give Big and Rise with Ryther!

And, if you donate during GiveBIG, your impact will be doubled ─ all gifts will be matched up to $30,000!
