Mission

To improve women's health by helping them prevent, detect early, and survive ovarian and breast cancer.

We do this by:
- Investing in cutting-edge research to prevent, detect, and cure ovarian cancer, a deadly and under funded disease.
- Educating women to prevent and detect ovarian and breast cancer as early as possible.
- Fostering an ever growing community of survivors, patients, researchers, clinicians, advocates, and supporters.

Description

The Rivkin Center is a Seattle-based 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to funding life-saving ovarian cancer research and providing ovarian and breast health education in our community. Each year, over 2.3 million women are diagnosed with ovarian and breast cancer worldwide. Ovarian cancer is the most deadly gynecological cancer, while breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.

Since 1999, the Rivkin Center has been striving to change these statistics. The Rivkin Center's Ovarian Cancer Research Program continues to fund ground-breaking science around the world, to ensure that the best and brightest minds are working on finding solutions to ovarian cancer. The Rivkin Center's Education Program, Rivkin EDU, has educated more than 30,000 women on ovarian and breast health, giving women the tools for early detection, prevention, and self-advocacy. We believe research and education must work in tandem to fulfill our vision of women living longer and healthier lives because cancers are prevented, caught early, or cured.

The Rivkin Center was founded by renowned Swedish Cancer Institute medical oncologist Saul E. Rivkin, MD (now retired), in memory of his wife, Marsha, who lost her life to ovarian cancer.
