Tacoma Rescue Mission

A nonprofit organization

Mission

To offer God's help, hope, and healing to the most impoverished members of our community.

Description

Founded in 1912 as the "Tacoma Commons Mission," the Rescue Mission was born out of local faith and civic leaders to express the common mission of caring for the most vulnerable and impoverished in the Tacoma community.

Today, the Rescue Mission provides warm food and shelter to individuals and families experiencing homeless, while also providing services that lead to long-term transformation. These include: a residential substance use disorder recovery program, adult education center, counseling program, youth afterschool mentoring and tutoring, and permanent housing.

We ground and center all of services in the person of Christ, believing that it is ultimately God's deep and abiding care for the poor and vulnerable the enables us to do our work with compassion and effectiveness.

Recognition

Thanks to the generosity of two anonymous donors, every dollar donated to the Tacoma Rescue Mission through GiveBig will be tripled through a challenge grant!
