Our mission is to provide long term, community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Description

PSRS is putting GiveBig donations towards supporting our mission with things like helping folks with home maintenance and repairs, supporting life experiences, and obtaining items they need to lead fulfilling lives in the community. Many of the people we support live at or below the poverty level - the majority, or all, of their income goes to rent, utilities, food, and basic necessities. They have little to no money left over for entertainment/activities, accommodations to their homes, or repairs. PSRS will often step in to ensure those we support get what they need, and have opportunities to participate in their communities - the fun stuff! 

People we support have unique needs and endless abilities. We achieve objectives by supporting increased independence and skill in accomplishing activities of daily living and lifelong goals. We empower individuals to contribute to their community by fostering opportunities, engagement, and inclusion. PSRS puts people at the center of supports and services; compassion, relationships, advocacy, and specialized training are essential to our success.

PSRS started with, and continues to embrace, the belief that people with developmental and intellectual disabilities should be connected to, and participate fully in their communities, engaged in activities that bring them satisfaction, and develop life skills that are important to them. Over 35 years later, this belief is still at the core of PSRS' mission. And it wouldn't be possible without the dedication, skill, and support of our staff!

Meeting a broad range of needs, PSRS enables individuals to find stable housing and employment opportunities, receive assistance with personal and health care, financial management, and household maintenance, and access other community based services/activities. Staff works to ensure each individual remains safe, maintains stable health, strengthens daily living skills, and has an opportunity to experience life outside of their home.

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to receive services that enable them to lead fulfilled lives through choice and experiences, with caring support. Families deserve to know their loved one has a home, a community, and a team of people dedicated to their success. PSRS is committed to ensuring the stability of current programs, and expanding services while making quality care our highest priority.
