Why We Serve

A child's health should not suffer repeatedly from malaria when the disease is preventable and treatable. That is why we continue our research and provide practical help now.

A child's education should not end in the 5th grade simply because she is a poor, rural, African girl. That is why our Beacon of Hope School sits in some of the most impoverished territory in Eastern Africa.

Mission

To challenge despair, love boldly, and help African people create a future of sustainable prosperity and health. We give ourselves in service to others regardless of economic, religious, or social standing, working to empower and love others to the glory of God.

Description

Pilgrim Africa was founded in 2001 as an indigenous faith-based response to the plight of more than 1.5 million internally displaced persons in war-torn Uganda, providing health services, education, trauma-counseling and agricultural training. In over two decades of work, Pilgrim Africa has gained an international reputation for catalyzing local solutions into widespread social change and has developed partnerships that include Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, President's Malaria Initiative, and Rotary International. Today, Pilgrim Africa has impacted more than 600,000 households in Uganda and is a major, indigenous force for development with projects in both Education and Public Health.
