Northwest Girlchoir revolutionizes choral education by rejoicing in students’ voices and creativity through embodied music-making. Guided by our commitment to anti-racism, we inspire joy, belonging, and confidence, and cultivate community through shared experience. Our treble choirs welcome and affirm girls and all youth marginalized by gender.

Description

Now in its 52nd year, Northwest Girlchoir provides outstanding music education in a nurturing environment where choristers can learn, grow, and be themselves. Since the pandemic, we have seen a greater need for young people to connect with others, find meaning, and feel valued and heard. 

Over five decades, thousands of youth have become part of our community and experienced the joy of choral music, the pride of performances and tours, and the combined sense of independence and belonging. With a tradition of 7 choirs and 200+ choristers ages 6-18, we perform frequently throughout the year and collaborate with other arts organizations and community partners. 

Your help is needed in funding Northwest Girlchoir’s tuition assistance program, along with all our choir programs. Northwest Girlchoir believes anyone who loves to sing should be able to join our choir regardless of their family’s ability to pay full tuition. We offer generous need-based tuition assistance for choir, tours, and summer camp. Because of our commitment to equity and access – and thanks to the generosity of donors like you – the total amount of the tuition assistance we have offered this year is more than triple the amount we awarded ten years ago.

Thanks to a generous Northwest Girlchoir alum parent, Michael King, we have a dollar-for-dollar match of $5,000 to inspire gifts toward our $15,000 goal this year. And for extra fun, everyone who makes a GiveBIG donation to Northwest Girlchoir by May 7 will be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift card to Ethan Stowell Restaurants!
