Our Mission is to provide the highest level of music education and vocal performance opportunities to the boys, and young men and women of the Seattle region, and to provide the local community with a unique choral resource.
Description
For nearly 50 years the Northwest Choirs (Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle) has shaped the lives of thousands of our region's youth by challenging its members to reach their fullest artistic potential. Incorporated as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization in 1974, the Northwest Choirs is committed to making its programs accessible to young people regardless of religion, social background or financial situation. The Northwest Choirs recruits and trains talented boys, and young men and women in the mastery of vocal performance with an emphasis on musicianship, self-discipline, teamwork, commitment, and personal excellence. Each year our organization distributes $80,000 in financial aid to 30% of our families. This allows all members to participate equally in programs, camps, and tours.
The Choir’s staff of professional musicians and educators engage in the teaching of a rigorous curriculum that trains young singers, 6-18 years old, to be fully-skilled musicians who sing at the highest level, read music fluently, and perform in professional settings with confidence. The Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle regularly collaborate with the Seattle Symphony, Music of Remembrance, and other community arts organizations. Along with a very active performance schedule, the Choirs are regularly contracted for recording engagements. In addition to serving as the official “Singing Ambassadors” of Washington State, the Northwest Boychoir has toured both nationally and internationally.
