Mission
Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center (HSDC) is a resource hub redefining language and communication. Our multi-dimensional approach is driven by Deaf Culture and Sign Language and benefits the diverse community we share our lives with everyday.
HSDC is a nonprofit organization serving the Puget Sound area. We foster accessible communities through communication, advocacy and education. We offer services for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing or have speech/language differences as well as their families and friends. We also offer trainings for organizations that wish to better serve Deaf and hard of hearing community members.
Description
We believe all humans have access to language and communication thereby making our communities healthy, authentically diverse and naturally inclusive.
Your donation supports HSDC's services for the Puget Sound community, such as:
- Bilingual support in American Sign Language (ASL) and English for young Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing children, and their families
- Free advocacy and assistance for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in 13 counties around the Puget Sound
- Sign language interpreting for the Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing
- Accessible hearing aid service and communication assistance
- Accessible speech-language therapy and evaluation
Our work ensures that the community stays connected. In addition to virtual services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we release videos that translate important health and safety information to ASL, the language of the Deaf Community.
