Mission
The Ethnic Heritage Council's mission is sharing and preserving ethnic heritage to advance mutual understanding
Description
The goals of the Council as stated in the bylaws are to:
a.Enhance the success of ethnic organizations
b.Advance communication and understanding among ethnic communities
c.Facilitate documentation of local ethnic history and cultural heritage
d.Be a clearinghouse of information concerning ethnic groups and their activitie
e.Sponsor and promote educational, cultural, and other exchanges among ethnic organizations and groups and the general public
f.Provide support for non-profit organizations, especially in their start-up phase
g.Organize ethnic and cultural events for the general public, and
h.Engage in any other lawful activity as authorized by the Board of Directors
The ongoing programs of the EHC are:
Bi-monthly Roundtables for Ethnic Community Leaders, held in various ethnic and community halls
"We Are History Keepers," free workshops on preserving the historical record of our ethnic communities and families, held Online and in various ethnic and community halls.
Annual Dinner Meeting & Awards Ceremony: Presentation of four awards to leaders in the ethnic communities.
Annual EHC Ethnic Potluck Picnic at Daybreak Start Indian Cultural Center
Annual Kent full-day "We Are History Keepers" Workshop, in partnership with the Greater Kent Historical Society
Annual partnership with International Children's Friendship Festival, a 2-day event at Seattle Center
