Mission

Cougar Mountain Zoo is dedicated to increasing the understanding and appreciation of the Earth's wildlife and the role of humanity in nature through education, conservation, propagation and exhibition.

Earth Day Every Day

Earth Day is a time to celebrate our planet and all that calls it home. Here at Cougar Mountain Zoo we are dedicated to educating about how we can protect the world's vanishing species.

Conservation Through Education

The primary focus of the Zoo is centered on Conservation through Education, rare and endangered species and extended special hospitality to our visitors.

The animals, which call the Zoo home, are considered Ambassadors of their wild kin and have developed a self-assured attitude toward humans, enabling visitors to take a deep glimpse into the beauty and mysteries of other life forms on this planet Earth.

We are here to serve as a rallying point and a common denominator where people with differing environmental views can find a common cause and neutral ground.

Our goal is to serve the surrounding schools and communities as a Living Classroom through a broad array of specialized educational programs. To give every Zoo visitor individual attention and a special experience.

To be an important recreational asset for all ages and socio-economic levels. To represent a greenbelt in the sea of development for the Puget Sound Region.

New Education Center

Opening in Summer 2024, the Education Center will continue the Cougar Mountain Zoo's mission to inspire conservation through education. The theme is Rainforests of the World and will highlight the importance of rainforests and how they aid in sustaining a healthy planet.

New animals will be finding a home in the new Education Center, including Two-toed sloths! The Pacific Northwest is also home to rainforests and the center will introduce thousands of guests to the amazing marvels in their own backyard.
