CGCNA is committed to fulfilling, protecting and respecting the rights of vulnerable children and youth, especially girls, by providing support of education, health and gender equality programs .

Description

Concern for the Girl North America was founded to support programs that empower the girl child thru supporting programs that provide educational programs, health education focusing on menstrual health, clean water programs, gender and child protection and community strengthening to support vulnerable children.
CGCNA currently supports these programs that are administered and run in Uganda by Concern for the Girl Child . CGC is a Ugandan registered NGO working in Uganda since 2001. ( www.concernforgirlchild.org) The primary focus is the education of orphaned and other vulnerable girls thru Secondary school (S1 thru 6) , vocational training and/or University- providing tuition, books, uniforms, housing (university) and all psychosocial support necessary. Over 1000 girls entered the program at S1 and advanced thru the program. Gender and Child protection programs have been established in the communities CGC works in and over 20,000 vulnerable children have been reached thru these programs. Health programs have concentrated on menstrual health and sexual health and reaches not only CGC beneficiaries but their classmates. The provision of menstrual pads , menstrual bathrooms for girls at secondary schools have reached 100s of girls in focused communities. Boreholes have been dug to provide Clean water for primary schools . One borehole per year has been commissioned providing clean water for 100's of children and their families
