Mission

Camelot Society's mission is empowering people with disabilities to live extraordinary lives. We are able to achieve this by holding firm to our Core Values: Health & Safety, Power & Choice, Relationships, Competence, Status & Contribution, and Inclusion.

Description

In 1970, a school teacher named Margo L. Thornley initially founded the Camelot Society to provide quality residential services for children with developmental disabilities in her own home.

In 1972, clients from the Thornley home, "Camelot Kids", were transferred to the very first Camelot Group Home, located in Seattle. For 47 years we've provided residential services for adults with developmental disabilities. In 1977, we opened two Group homes in Woodinville, WA, that were the first in the world to exclusively serve individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Currently, serve 42 adults at 14 different locations throughout King and Snohomish County, including Group Home settings and Supported Living facilities. While being the primary provider in Washington state for people with Prader-Willi Syndrome, we also serve clients with a wide range of developmental disabilities including cerebral palsy, autism, Down Syndrome, Waardenberg Syndrome, and other genetic disorders.
