Communities thrive when people have safe and stable housing and can equitably access and use services.

Mission

Building Changes advances equitable responses to homelessness in Washington State, with a focus on children, youth, and families and the systems that serve them.

Our Work

Building Changes pushes for change and racial equity in the systems that serve people experiencing homelessness. We work statewide to ensure that children, youth, and families can get the support they need to maintain housing stability and to thrive.

  • Housing, education, and health systems have a huge impact on the lives of children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness. We work at the intersections of these systems by partnering with providers working on the ground and state government agencies.
  • We work to remove systemic barriers and make sure that policies and practices are equitable, especially for Black, Indigenous, and people of color who are disproportionately impacted by homelessness.
  • We promote solutions developed through research and alongside community partners and people who have experienced homelessness.
  • We advocate at the state level for legislation and funding to address the homelessness crisis impacting children, youth, and families.
