Mission
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound's mission is to create and support 1-to-1 mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. It is our vision that all youth achieve their full potential.
Description
Since 1904, the national Big Brothers Big Sisters organization has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), in communities across the country.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound (BBBSPS) has operated in this region for over 60 years. The organization serves youth in King, Pierce, and Kitsap counties through training and placing mentors in matches with youth in communities, schools, and workplaces.
BBBSPS helps young people realize their potential and build their futures through mentorship. And we couldn’t do any of it without the support of the community, donors, parents and volunteers. Annually we serve over 1,000 youth, their families and over 1,100 volunteers.
Bigs support the critical social and emotional development needed for Littles to build resilience. Over 80% of youth with a Big show better outcomes in mental health and emotional well-being than their peers. Mentoring relationships have direct and lasting positive effects on Bigs and Littles as well as families and the wider community. Now more than ever, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is stepping up to find innovative ways to serve the community.
It is our vision that all youth achieve their full potential
