Mission

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art inspires curiosity, wonder and understanding by connecting people with the contemporary art and craft of the Puget Sound region.

Description

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) is located on Bainbridge Island, across from the ferry terminal with easy access from Seattle. BIMA offers free admission and is open 10 am - 5 pm 363 days per year. Since its' opening in June 2013, BIMA has served almost 450,000 visitors from the local area and across the nation and the world.

BIMA mounts three exhibitions per year, promoting and preserving the finest examples of local and regional contemporary art and craft. Educational opportunities tied to the current exhibitions include field trips for K- 12 students, hands-on art activities for children and adults, artist lectures, film series and other cultural activities like the Within/Earshot Jazz Festival, Momentum Arts Festival and Dia de los Muertos Community Celebration.

BIMA collaborates with regional community groups, local art galleries and other museums and cultural groups in Seattle, Kitsap County, The Olympic Peninsulas, and the greater Puget Sound region.
