Tales Of The Alchemysts Theatre is a performance company comprised of experienced, professional Seattle theatre artists and musicians committed to bringing provocative and entertaining Jewish literature and live music to those who have an interest in good storytelling and a desire to explore ideas relevant to humanity.
We are a company of four professional artists. We have a history of working together presenting dramatic staged readings with live music and producing podcasts with a national Jewish literature organization called Nextbook. With Nextbook we toured Chicago and Washington DC and performed yearly at Seattle's Benaroya Hall. In 2007 Nextbook reorganized and became the now present online magazine, The Tablet. In October of 2014, our group of artists reunited and in January of 2016 we made the decision to expand our literary salon into an official company and thus Tales of the Alchemysts Theatre was born.
As we move from grief to hope in our lives this 2022, The Tales of the Alchemysts also moved from stillness to flow. During the height of the pandemic we shifted to virtual performances and added a new branch under the umbrella of our theatre called the Pomegranate Projects which features audio presentations and virtual Radio Plays. Last year we recorded our first streamed on demand presentation, "Monsters, Magic & Mysticism," with two original renditions of classic folktales, "The Golem of Prague" and "Laia and the Dybbuk," written and directed by Laura Ferri. In January we produced our second audio play, "Somewhere Very Far Away: Stories from Honey on the Page," edited and translated by Miriam Udel, and directed by Laura Ferri. Both audio plays can still be accessed from our website homepage at:

"The Ruins of Memory", Voices of Women from the Holocaust, was meant to be our first full staged play for Season 2020. Unfortunately, due to COVID and the shuttering of live theater, it was placed on hold. We will present the play this year, Season 2022, in late Autumn. This beautiful performance piece features selections from fiction, poetry, and oral histories by and about female survivors and victims from both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. "The Ruins of Memory" combines live music, sound and movement with spoken word and song, capturing emotional snapshots of the time while delineating the mounting tension and fear that swept throughout Europe.
