Our Mission

Southwest Washington is blessed with beautiful and abundant creeks, lakes, and natural areas. These waterways and natural areas are incredibly important as habitats, recreational spaces, and as a means to climate resilience. Protecting and preserving them has never been more important.

Our mission is to empower community members to protect and restore southwest Washington’s waterways and natural areas for the benefit of current and future generations. 

Since 2008 we have been creating opportunities for hundreds of kids and adults to come together, strengthen community, and improve watershed health through our planting events, beach cleanups, and learning opportunities. 

Your gift will help us

•  Expand volunteer opportunities across southwest Washington. Last planting season, 770 volunteers planted over 17,000 plants in Vancouver, Ridgefield, Camas, Battle Ground, and throughout Clark County! Our events are in high demand as our dedicated community of volunteers has grown, but our ability to provide these opportunities hasn't grown as fast. This means we have had to place eager volunteers on a waitlist for events.  But, with your help, we can keep boots on the ground and hands in the dirt.

•  Coordinate more large-scale tree plantings and creekside restoration projects. 

•  Certify more backyards through the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, which provides support and incentives for people who seek to restore native habitat in their own backyards.

•  Provide more opportunities for community conversations like our environmental film series and other events that provide education on issues that affect watershed health.

•  Become more inclusive by strengthening partnerships with communities of color, ensuring volunteer events are led in Spanish, and providing Spanish transcreation of all materials.
