Mission

Fly Fishers International supports, enhances and preserves fly fishing opportunities in Washington through education and environmental stewardship. Since 1965, Washington FFI has played a vital role in conserving trout, salmon and steelhead, saltwater and warm water fishing statewide, sustaining public access and inviting teens, women and disabled veterans into our sport.

Description

Fly Fishers International is the only outdoor non-profit in Washington promoting fly fishing for all fish in all waters. From Alpine lakes to Puget Sound salmon to coastal surf fishing our organization is dedicated to expanding opportunities to fish for all species.
We believe that inviting men and women into fly fishing opens a path into the outdoors. Learning to match the hatch, see where fish hold in moving water and delivering a fly to a rising trout creates a bond with nature like no other sport. Appreciation for the environment deepens into understanding when you kneel to release a cutthroat in an Alpine lake. Kneeling to release an 18 lb. native steelhead on the Olympic Peninsula adds awe to understanding.
We strive to be the best fly fishing educators in four areas: fly casting, fly tying, fishing skills and conservation. We do that with fly fishing fairs open to all and focused events such as an annual academy that introduces kids to all aspects of the sport. The weeklong academy hosted in partnership with Trout Unlimited - Washington gives kids the knowledge to pursue the sport on their own and the connections to find others in their age group to join them. We support Project Healing Waters that gives wounded veterans an avenue into the outdoors and Casting for Recovery that helps women cancer survivors find fellow survivors and build confidence outdoors.
