Mission

We are determined to identify, rectify, and prevent wrongful convictions in Washington State. We pursue true justice by freeing innocent people, supporting them as they rebuild their lives in freedom, and reforming our system to prevent these miscarriages of justice in the future.

Description

Washington Innocence Project (WashIP) PROVIDES:

đŸ’„ LEGAL SERVICES and investigative services - free of charge - to people who are actually innocent of the crime of which they were convicted in Washington State;

đŸ’„ ADVOCACY for policy reform to identify, rectify, and prevent future wrongful convictions; and

đŸ’„ SUPPORT for our freed and exonerated clients, their loved ones, and anyone impacted by the devastating effects of a wrongful conviction as they rebuild their lives.

WashIP is a founding member of the Innocence Network, a coalition of more than 70 international organizations with a shared mission to free those who have been wrongly convicted.  WashIP is separate and distinct - and receives no funding or organizational support - from “the Innocence Project,” which is based in New York City and does not serve Washington State.
