Mission

We offer services and programs for Vashon Island residents and their pets with the goal of preventing pet homelessness in our island community. We do this by mobilizing the power of volunteers and through the generosity of our donors and community partners.

Vision

No more homeless pets.

About VIPP

VIPP serves a rural community of over 5,000 homes where pets are beloved and numerous. Scores of volunteers operate a cat shelter and dog fostering program that help find new homes for homeless pets, and a lost-and-found program to reunite pets with their owners. VIPP helps pet owners with assistance for pet food, medical care, and discounted spay/neuter services. VIPP's goals include: expanding spay/neuter programs; improving shelter facilities; providing community education programs to support pet ownership; and emergency preparedness for pets in homes as well as pets in our care.

Your Give Big donation will support VIPP’s No Hungry Pets program

In keeping with VIPP’s vision of no more homeless pets, we partner with our local food bank to provide supplemental pet food to islanders who might otherwise be forced to make the difficult decision to relinquish their dog or cat.  In difficult times, our pets provide unconditional love and comfort, but many find themselves unable to provide enough food for their pets when they are struggling to provide proper nutrition for their families and themselves.

Once a month, dedicated VIPP volunteers package and distribute cat and dog food to our island neighbors in need.  We are fortunate to partner with island businesses as well as the food bank to provide this safety net for our community.  Your donation will help us provide this service to our island neighbors.  2024 saw an increase of over 40 percent in number of households served. The need continues to grow in 2025.

We are grateful to Pandora’s Box and the Vashon Maury Community Food Bank for partnering with us, and for the individual donations of food we receive.  As both the need and the program continue to grow, we ask for your help to continue to provide this service to the pets and people of Vashon.  Please help us work towards our vision of no more homeless pets by supporting VIPP's No Hungry Pets program.  Your generosity will help keep cats and dogs with the people who love them.
