Vashon Maury Community Food Bank

Our mission is to work in partnership with our community to increase our island's food security and connect people to the supporting resources that help them thrive.

We provide free groceries and household essentials to around 300 households every week, comprising more than 1700 individual islanders (~15% of the island's population). We can serve our community because our supporters are generous and care deeply. Your support truly makes a difference!

At the Vashon Food Bank, we believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right and that there is dignity in choice. We offer our services to anyone on the island, with no questions asked.

To achieve our mission, we provide access to nutritious food through our weekly on-site grocery shopping and home delivery service. We also host a summer meals program, Picnics in the Park, which provides on average 204 meals per day, 5 days a week, to island youth and families.

Local food assistance programs, like ours at the Vashon Food Bank, are receiving less and less food from regional distribution centers as demand increases nationwide.

Since this time last year, demand for our free grocery services on the island has increased by approximately 24%. Currently, we provide free groceries and household essentials to around 300 households every week and we expect this number will continue to rise. In response, our 2024 food purchasing budget has increased by 30%.
