Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank
Mission
Dedicated to providing food and key resources to help our neighbors and our community thrive.
Description
With food insecurity growing with the rising costs of groceries and housing this past year, the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank is rising to the challenge of increased need in our community. We empower families with healthy food options, supporting senior citizens on fixed incomes, and connect struggling households with the resources they need for stability. Help us continue our mission to make the Snoqualmie Valley a place where no one is hungry.
We operate a grocery-store-model food bank offering fresh produce, refrigerated and frozen meats, dairy, fresh bread and bakery items and shelf-stable staples to allow our guests nutritional choice for their household. We serve about 450 unique households each month, and many of these families visit the food bank each week for their groceries.
Our food supply comes from both purchased (through grants and donated funds) and donated food resources, including partnerships with local grocers and warehouses to reduce food waste.
We've recently seen the amount of bulk food donations we receive from the federal government slashed in half. This is sobering at a time of increased need, and we're now more reliant on community support like yours than ever before.
Help us prepare for "Meals for the Break" to provide extra support to families of school-aged children this summer. Food insecurity often rises during school breaks as children lose access to the school-provided free meals. Donate today to make sure that every kid has access to nutritious food this summer.
