Mission
Southeast Youth & Family Services gives vulnerable members of our community a place to turn for help. A reason to hope. Our mission is to assist children, youth and families in achieving safe, self-sufficient, and stable lives through counseling, educational, social and life skills programs.
Description
Founded in 1974, Southeast Youth & Family Services provides comprehensive early learning and mental health services that are based on the needs and strengths of children, youth and families in our community.
SEYFS is a licensed mental health center that provides skilled, evidence-based, best-practice mental health treatment and prevention services in Southeast Seattle and nearby King County communities, where a growing number of our clients are moving as housing costs rise out of reach. Four out of five clients we serve are people of color; 95% are low-income.
Through extensive outreach, SEYFS goes to schools, homes, community centers, hospitals, juvenile detention, and other locations to engage with youth and families and make our services accessible to those in greatest need. Our staff are advocates who are dedicated to helping youth and families overcome oppression, institutionalized racism, discrimination, inequality, and other traumas.
We also serve 16 month - 3 year olds through our Child Development Program. Our Early Learning Specialists meet with families twice a week through the Parent/Child+ program to give them developmental and educational support as they prepare their children for kindergarten.
