~ Mission ~

Seattle Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit street outreach program and foster-based dog rescue dedicated to helping homeless animals. Our street outreach mission is to keep homeless families and their pets together by providing free pet food, pet supplies, access to our free boarding program and access to free vet care thru our vets to those living in homelessness.

Our mission is to reduce the number of pets going hungry, provide vet care to prevent illnesses, to aid the ones sick or dying and to reduce shelter intakes by helping to control the pet population by offering free spay and neuter and to help prevent abuse, neglect, abandonment by providing education, resources & rescue.

Our rescue mission is to stop the abandonment of animals, to get them the vet care they need, provide temp foster homes until we find the loving adopters they need and deserve.

Seattle Dogs is dedicated to animal welfare.

~ Description ~

Seattle Dogs Homeless Program is a WA State 501c3 nonprofit street outreach program that helps owners living in homelessness with their pets. While our original focus was only on dogs we quickly found a variety of animals that needed our help, cats, rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs too found their way to Seattle Dogs or thru outreach we found them.

Seattle Dogs provides quality pet food, supplies, vet care, boarding and rescue. While there isn't any stipulations to receiving food and supplies, we do have a mandatory spay and neuter policy for our boarding and vet care, we also offer spay and neuter to animals we serve via outreach.

Boarding for dogs is made possible by a generous donation from a local boarding facility, contingent on space, for homeless owners who want to go to drug treatment or want to go to school or work, by providing boarding/ fostering we remove a huge barrier to human self care.

While our objection is to keep pets and their people together this isn't always possible, because of that rescue is a big part of what Seattle Dogs does. Rescue is avail to people that are homeless or housed in the greater Seattle area and Yakima who have choosen rescue as a safe choice in giving up their animals. We also take on dogs we've known that sadly have been abused, abandoned or neglected

We, staff, board, volunteers, understand issues pet owners living in homelessness face and believe that by us helping to cover the animals needs we greatly reduced the number of unwanted, abandoned and neglected dogs and thus reduce the number of shelter intakes for our area.

We believe homelessness shouldn't be a barrier to vet care or quality pet food & supplies, this drives our mission statement.

While we have the needs of the homeless animals covered we knew there were low income housed pet owners that needed help so to help meet that need on Mondays 4-7pm Seattle Dogs can be found at NW Harvest SODO Community Food Bank passing out dog/ cat food and supplies.  Having office space for those few hours each week helps us to help so many animals that would be going without had they not found us.

We are a small but mighty outreach team with messed up hair, dirty shoes, real life issues and most of us having lived experience doing what we love but also doing what we know needed done and your donations make the work we @ Seattle Dogs Homeless Program do possible, thank you for your support!   ❤️‍🩹
