This Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise $20,000 with a little help from our friends
Music brings us joy and connection; studies show it even improves our health. But behind the scenes, far too many musicians are struggling to afford the healthcare they need to stay healthy and make music. When basic needs like routine physicals, mental health support, dental care, and glasses are often inaccessible, it is extremely difficult to sustain a music career. And without help, the music that has defined our city for decades could fade.
You have the power to change that. When you donate to SMASH, you help musicians gain access to essential, often lifesaving, healthcare so they can continue playing and creating for years to come. Every gift immediately impacts the lives of local musicians who are hustling to make ends meet.
But here’s the catch: we need to raise the other $7,000 from our community to unlock it. Every dollar you give will be matched up to a certain amount on each match day, doubling its impact!
So, be a friend to a local musician and donate to SMASH for Giving Tuesday!
"...After facing what could have been a career-ending injury, the financial barrier to care felt insurmountable. But, SMASH connected me with the care provider I needed, and could afford, which allowed me to keep playing my instrument and pursuing my career. Thank you, SMASH!" - Anonymous SMASH Member
OUR MISSION IS TO GET & KEEP MUSICIANS HEALTHY!
We believe musicians deserve access to life saving healthcare services that are affordable, easy to access, and meet their needs. When you’re struggling with your health, it's hard to put one foot in front of the other, let alone create music. Our goal is to provide a foundation of health, both physical and mental, that allows musicians to continue enriching our local culture, economy, and lives.
Check out the video above by Brian Callanan on the Seattle Channel to learn more about our work and hear the story of how Lance Mercer, iconic music photographer, musician, and SMASH Member, was able to access life-changing dental care at Lyon's Creek Dental Care, a SMASH Gold Provider, who has donated over $300,000 in services to local musicians.
"SMASH gave me an outlet to start using therapy because it wasn't something I was willing to do on my own because of the cost and how hard it can be to find a therapist. With the support of therapy, I’ve gotten sober and just hit two years sober in June." - Chris K. Musician & SMASH Member
