Mission

To inspire our communities with an artistically distinct, educational, and diverse musical experience that fosters fellowship around a love of live music

Description

Rainier Symphony is an artistically distinguished, 75-member community orchestra founded in 1981. The orchestra is composed of talented musicians ranging in skill, from well-qualified students and amateur players to internationally renowned professionals.

Building on our momentum from last year, Rainier Symphony has returned to the stage for our 2024-25 season with truly exciting programs that have been thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences! Some of our performances this season have included moderately unknown pieces by underrepresented composers, and those performances were huge successes, with many audience members leaving the concert hall feeling like they discovered a new favorite piece of orchestral music. In February, Rainier Symphony performed Florence Price's Symphony no. 1. As an underrepresented composer whose work was rarely performed until recently, her symphony left many of our audience members in awe- some of who said it was their favorite piece Rainier Symphony has ever performed.

We have committed ourselves to continually bringing fresh and inclusive programming, emphasizing culturally under-represented composers and music along with time-honored gems of the past. This type of innovative, inclusive programming is made possible by the generous donations we have received from the philanthropic community, our patrons, and our supporters. We are grateful to those who are helping us continue to delight and enrich the community and audiences for which we perform.

We hope to see you at our "Heroes and Dreamers" concerts on May 31 and June 1, which will feature music from Gladiator, Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars.

Your donation will help pay the significantly higher costs to perform diverse and inclusive works, from timeless classics to modern gems, in our 2025-26 concert season, AND to continue to bring this incredible music to a broader audience.

With your help, we can continue to invest in the south sound communities we serve with access to artistically distinct performances that educate and enrich our patrons by pairing treasured orchestral repertoire with underrepresented composers, and their incredible compositions. We hope that you will choose to join us on this journey!
