Our Mission
RBAC's mission is to empower a thriving cultural neighborhood with equitable access to economic opportunity, housing, and healthy food. Our focus areas are public safety, food justice, economic development, and youth education & employment.
Our Goal
We aim to raise $30,000 for our Food Innovation Center (FIC), a vision for food sovereignty and a better future and a better future where farmers can process produce, access business education, and the community can enjoy free fresh produce, child care, food justice, tech education, and more. Your support will help make this vision a reality, inspiring positive change in the Rainier Beach neighborhood and beyond and making you a vital part of our mission.
Description
We've been in the neighborhood since 2014, having dubbed ourselves the 'stewards of the Rainier Beach Neighborhood Plan.' This plan and subsequent plan update features the ideas put forth by RB residents to facilitate sustainable economic development in Rainier Beach.
Our work aims to facilitate the neighborhood capacity-building initiatives in that plan by supporting the development of resources alongside resident-led neighborhood efforts and by facilitating alliance-building and collaboration among programs, organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals that service Rainier Beach residents. This collective effort allows us to leverage existing neighborhood assets and acquire the necessary resources to support resident-led initiatives. We believe in being shamelessly and selfishly focused on improving our neighborhood because that's where we can have the most impact. Learn more about our Food Innovation Center below!
