Mission

The NW Energy Coalition leads the Northwest’s broadest alliance of energy interests in designing, promoting, and implementing clean, affordable, and equitable energy policy grounded in analytical expertise.

Description

The Coalition is an alliance of over 100 environmental, civic, and human service organizations, utilities, and businesses in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia. We envision a 21st century energy system that provides clean, reliable, and affordable energy, sustains our communities, and preserves the region's natural resources.

We focus on reforming utility, buildings and transportation policy and programs to reduce climate pollution and to hasten development of customer-side resources (energy efficiency, demand management, energy storage), renewable resources, smart infrastructure improvements, integrated system planning, transmission planning, and market systems that will accelerate use of clean, affordable and equitable portfolio of energy resources and facilitate Columbia basin salmon recovery for all in the Northwest.

We engage policymakers, regulators and utilities to change the energy system decision process to increasingly value community voices to ensure that our most vulnerable community members and communities of color have affordable energy services, directly benefit from clean energy resources within communities, and have a seat at energy forum tables. This work is based on deep engagement with our members and allies to develop informed positions.
