Serving Our Community for 25 years!

We know the Washington philanthropic community has many compelling causes to support and you may be asking yourself, “Why support NBA?”  Your support helps our staff positively impact the life of individuals with autism one day, week, month, and most importantly, year at a time.  Teaching across a learner’s lifespan is a challenging and unique opportunity like no other; we have the privilege of being present the first time a toddler tells their mother that they love her and get to share in the excitement of that same learner’s first paycheck as a young adult. NBA has been one of few constants in the lives of so many in our community; your generous donations ensure that we can continue to be the reliable and devoted foundation for our learners and their families.

Mission

NBA’s mission is to maximize the potential of individuals with autism and related disorders by providing high-quality, individualized intervention, and to promote awareness of both the autism spectrum and the science of human behavior to the community.

Description

According to the CDC, the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was approximately 1 in 150 individuals in 2000, since then this number has grown to an estimated 1 in 36. The rapid increase in the number of individuals diagnosed with autism has resulted in a lack of organized support and well-trained providers in the greater Puget Sound. Substantial resources have been poured into research regarding the causes of autism. Far fewer resources have been dedicated to helping families, school personnel, and related service providers to teach individuals with autism to be self-sufficient and successful community members. Trained treatment providers have long waiting lists of families who are anxious to connect their child with someone who can break through the walls of autism. Additionally, public funding for direct services, behavior technicians, teacher training, and skilled Board Certified and state licensed Behavior Analysts has not kept pace with the dramatic increase in demand.

NBA strives to be the premier provider of applied behavior analytic services in Washington state for learners with ASD and related disorders. We pledge to deliver high-quality and individualized services to learners, their families, and their communities across the changing needs of their lifespan. We strive to provide these services in a way that maximizes learners’ quality of life and potential. We are committed to adhering to the topmost ethical standards, offering ongoing training and education, and treating all employees, learners, and their families with compassion, understanding, respect and inclusivity in a nurturing, fun, and family-oriented culture. NBA is compelled to make a positive difference in our community and society by promoting awareness of autism and the science of behavior.

To achieve this goal, NBA has developed inclusive programs that focus on the unique strengths and potential of each individual learner and family, and that build capacity in the home, the school and the community. We want to continue to increase the kinds of services that we can provide across the lifespan and that is why we need your help.

We thank you for your support!
