Mission

Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) envisions a community where every Islander is reaching their full human potential. MIYFS provides emergency assistance, extends lifelong wellness, and fosters strength & resilience to every Islander when they need us, through our mental health counselors in every public school, services to senior citizens, food security, and drug and alcohol prevention. MIYFS Foundation raises funds that provide support across the eight programs and services.

Description

Mercer Island Youth & Family Services Saves Lives! MIYFS provides a multi-generatlonal range of services designed specifically for the unique needs of Mercer Island. Programs and services touch all members of the community and include mental health counselors in the schools, senior outreach and advocacy, affordable family counseling, arrested youth and early intervention programs, family assistance and a thriving thrift shop. Founded in 1973, MIYFS is a department of the City of Mercer Island and works in partnership with its police, fire and legal departments as well as coordinating extensively with Mercer Island's Public Schools. MIYFS is a public-private partnership.
