Mission

Uniting community support for innovative and equitable learning across Highline Public Schools.

Description

For more than twenty-five years, Highline Schools Foundation has been supporting innovation and excellence in the Highline Public Schools (HPS). HPS is one of the most diverse districts in the state of Washington -- of nearly 17,000 students enrolled, more than 80% are students of color, 89 languages are spoken, and 31% are English Language Learners.

Highline Schools Foundation works to unite community support for innovative and equitable learning across Highline Public Schools, with a vision of nurturing and supporting the potential of every student. Our work is divided into three main areas:

  • Classroom and School Support: Grants to teachers and support staff to provide innovative and equitable learning opportunities to students at all grade levels
  • Support for the Future: College and Careers programming including career exploration experiences, internships, and college visits, as well as offering more than $350,000 in annual scholarship awards to graduating seniors from all HPS high schools.
  • Student and Family Support: Basic needs, such as school supplies and backpacks, warm coats and shoes, and access to food resources, to ensure that students arrive at school, ready to learn

Highline Schools Foundation funds numerous programs that support the district’s promise…every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength and needs and graduates prepared for the future they choose. Our main funding priorities fall into three categories:
