MISSION

Grandmothers Against Gun Violence Foundation is committed to preventing gun violence by funding research and projects that inform and strengthen community health and firearm safety practices.

APPROACH

Grandmothers Foundation recognizes gun violence as a public health epidemic and seeks remedies through research, education and community engagement. We believe sustained investments in research on gun violence will lead to policies that will save lives, especially during a time with little to no federal support in gun violence prevention. By supporting emerging researchers in gun violence prevention, we encourage interdisciplinary research that involves disciplines such as public health, social work, psychology, medicine, public policy and education.

PROJECTS

Grandmothers Foundation has funded eight research projects in Washington State. Our 2024-2025 research projects are investigating mental health impacts of school shootings, risk factors for intimate partner homicides, and hospital-based interventions to prevent community gun violence.

HISTORY

Founded in 2018, Grandmothers Foundation is an affiliate of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence, which has a broad reach over Washington state and many other states in the US.
